Khaleel Ahmed Injury: Chennai Super Kings suffered a big setback in IPL 2026. The team’s fast bowler Khalil Ahmed was out of the entire tournament. His injury has come at a time when CSK was looking to make a comeback with two consecutive wins.

Khalil Ahmed has suffered a grade-2 tear in his quadriceps (thigh muscle), due to which he will need at least 10-12 weeks of rehabilitation. That means now he will not be able to play the remaining matches of IPL 2026.

Khalil Ahmed injured
He suffered this injury during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. While bowling in this match, he felt pain in his right hip and he left the field after bowling only 5 balls in the 17th over. His over was completed by Gurjapneet Singh. Although CSK won that match by 32 runs, Khalil’s exclusion is a big loss for the team. He was the team’s leading new bowler this season, opening with the new ball.

Second player after Dhoni injured
Talking about his performance, Khalil took only 2 wickets in 5 matches, but his economy was 8.67, which was the second best among the bowlers of the team. Especially his performance against KKR was considered to be his best spell of this season, due to which it seemed that he was finding his rhythm.

The matter of concern for CSK is that injuries have not left the team this season. The team’s most experienced player Mahendra Singh Dhoni is already out of the entire season due to shin (calf) injury and has not played a single match till now. Additionally, Dewald Brewis was unavailable for the first three matches, while Nathan Ellis was out with an injury before the season started.

The team had included Spencer Johnson in place of Ellis but he is also still recovering from injury and will not be available at least till the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Now the big question is which player does CSK include in the team in place of Khalil Ahmed. The journey ahead is not going to be easy for the team which is constantly struggling with injuries.
