The 19th season of IPL is progressing rapidly and new players are also leaving their mark. There is still a lot left in this season. The tournament will also end at the end of May and then Team India's international cricket action will begin. Now only a few selected players will be included in Team India also. At the same time, only a few players' luck shines in IPL. In such a situation, how will those who do not get a chance in either of the two earn? This is a question that arises often and now the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has answered it with a historic decision.
Yes, the country's most famous and most successful cricket association MCA has taken a revolutionary decision. According to the report of Indian Express, like the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), MCA has also announced annual contracts for its players. It has been told in the report that this contract system will start from the coming 2026-27 season, in which the players associated with Mumbai cricket will be divided into 3 different grades and accordingly they will get a fixed amount for the year.
This proposal, which is considered very important for the players, was passed in a meeting of MCA. However, not all players will get this contract but there will be some special conditions for it. A basic condition in this is that players will have to be registered with MCA to become contenders for the central contract. Apart from this, the most important condition is regarding playing in IPL and Team India. Only those players will be selected for this contract, who have not been selected for Team India for 2 consecutive seasons or who have not been bought by any team in 2 consecutive IPL seasons.
This has been done so that those players can get financial help who are not able to earn through these two sources. Apart from this, only those players will be selected for contract, who will be recommended by the selection committee of MCA. Besides, those players will also have to fulfill the fitness criteria set by MCA. MCA has become the first association in the country to implement the contract system.
Talking about the contract system, like BCCI, there are 3 different grades and the amount of annual earning is also fixed according to them.
Players coming in Grade A will get a fixed amount between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 20 lakh every year. Whereas Grade B players will get Rs 8 lakh to Rs 12 lakh per year. Players who will be selected in Grade C will get Rs 8 lakh. Let us tell you that this contract is different from the match fees received by the players. That means they will get separate fees for the matches played in Ranji, Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
