The trend that had started before the start of the tournament is continuing. The story of players getting injured in the IPL 2026 season is not ending. Many players were already out before the start of the new season and this is still happening. Now two teams have suffered a setback in the same day. After Chennai Super Kings' star fast bowler Khalil Ahmed, now Sunrisers Hyderabad has also lost one of its bowlers. England fast bowler David Paine, who started the season for SRH, is out of the tournament.
The season is going through ups and downs. Sunrisers Hyderabad announced on its social media accounts on Thursday 16 April. The team said that David Penn is out of the tournament due to injury. He suffered this injury in his ankle, due to which he is not in a condition to play further in the IPL season. Tall pacer David Paine was bought by SRH in the auction for Rs 1.5 crore and he played 2 matches in the season. In this he got 2 wickets.
The team has not yet announced who will be David Penn's replacement.
But it may be announced soon. This news for Sunrisers has come at a time when team captain and Australian legend Pat Cummins has been declared fit for the IPL. Cummins, who has not been able to play a single match so far this season due to a back injury, recently returned to his country, where he was last examined. Only after this, Cricket Australia announced that he was fit for IPL. Cummins can now take the field for the team soon.Earlier on Thursday itself, Chennai Super Kings had announced the exit of left-arm fast bowler Khalil from the tournament.
Khalil was consistently performing well for the Super Kings, who were already struggling with poor performance this season. Khalil also had an important contribution in Chennai getting only 2 wins this season. In such a situation, there is no end to the troubles for Chennai in IPL 2026.
