Shubman Gill Blitz Powers Gujarat Titans to 5-Wicket Win vs Kolkata Knight Riders

A solid knock from Shubman Gill guided the Gujarat Titans to five wicket victory in the IPL 2026 game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 17 at Ahmedabad.

He smashed 86 runs off 50 deliveries after opening and almost completed the chase. By this win, the Gujarat Titans moved to the fourth position of the IPL 2026 points table.

After being invited to bat first, Ajinkya Rahane and Tim Seifert opened the innings while Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling attack.

Siraj bagged the wicket of KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane for a golden duck. The batter completely misses out with the timing, and the ball was up in the long-on, where Kagiso Rabada makes a safe catch.

Kagiso Rabada bagged his first wicket, dismissing Angkrish Raghuvanshi for 8 runs. Raghuvanshi poked the ball, and the outside edge was taken by Jos Buttler behind the wickets.

He bagged his second wicket dismissing Tim Seifert for 19 runs. The wk-batter punched the ball towards point and Glenn Phillips took a catch inside the circle. With losing three wickets Kolkata Knight Riders scored only 37 runs in the powerplay.

However, Cameron Green and Rovman Powell are aiming to stitch a partnership to revive the innings after early dismissals. Ashok Sharma broke through the partnership dismissing Rovman Powell for 27 runs.

On the other hand, Cameron Green and Anukul Roy are aiming to build a partnership as the side cross 100 run mark.

However, Green went on to carnage mode smash his first fifty and went on to slaughter the Gujarat Titans bowlers.

Prasidh Krishna broke the 60-run partnership dismissing Anukul Roy for 9 runs. on the other hand, Kagiso Rabada bagged his third wicket dismissing Rinku Singh.

Ramandeep Singh who added 17 runs, got dismissed by Ashok Sharma and quick dismissals led Kolkata Knight Riders to lose all 10 wickets for 180 runs in their 20 over innings.

Kagiso Rabada bagged three wickets while, Siraj and Ashok Sharma bagged two wickets each. Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan bagged one wicket each.

Chasing a 181 target, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill opened the innings while Vaibhav Arora opened the bowling attack.

The duo made a stunning start scoring 57 runs for the first wicket. Sunil Narine bagged the wicket of Sai Sudharsan for 22 runs. With Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler at crease, Gujarat Titans scored 71 runs in the powerplay.

Jos Buttler who came to bat at No.3, smashed a quick 25 off 15 deliveries before being dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy. On the other hand, Shubman Gill smashed his fifty and aimed to complete the chase comfortably.

Varun bagged his second wicket dismissing Washington Sundar for 13 runs. Meanwhile, Vaibhav Arora dismissed Shubman Gill on a wide yorker where Cameron Green caught the catch from deep backward point.

Shubman Gill’s knock ended on 86 runs off 50 deliveries which included 8 fours and 4 sixes. In the final over, Ramandeep Singh bagged the wicket of Glenn Phillips for 19 runs as Gujarat Titans needed four runs in five balls.
