Delhi Capitals defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Match 26 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Saturday, April 18 to gain a couple of important points on the table.

Being put into bat first on a slightly slower Bengaluru pitch in the heat of the afternoon, the defending champions started their innings brilliantly as openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli took the bowlers on early. Kolhi fell to the bowling of Lungi Ngidi, but Salt motored on, scoring a brilliant 63 off 38 balls.

From there, the Capitals tightened the screws, picking up regular wickets.

Devdutt Padikkal fell to Axar Patel, and Phil Salt fell to Kuldeep Yadav. Skipper Rajat Patidar fell to Mukesh Kumar chasing a half-volley, giving a catch to KL Rahul behind the stumps.

A key moment in the match came when Tim David refused a single on the first ball of the 16th over and then fell to Axar Patel on the subsequent ball. Delhi further pulled things back as RCB finished their innings at 175/8.

In response, RCB started the powerplay brilliantly, with Bhuvaneshwar Kumar picking up three wickets, including that of impact player Karun Nair.

From there, local boy KL Rahul took off, stabilising the innings with Tristan Stubbs. Rahul was the aggressor, as he took the likes of Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma to the cleaners.

Rahul fell to Krunal Pandya for a well-made 57, which brought Axar Patel to the crease. The Capitals' momentum slowed down, but they kept chipping away at the score with regular runs.

Axar Patel hobbled off with a cramp, bringing David Miller to the crease.

Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled tight overs in the death, but with 25 needed in the last two overs and 16 off the final over, Miller hit Romario Shepherd for two sixes and a boundary to finish the game with one ball to spare, redeeming himself for his mishap against the Titans. Stubbs remained unbeaten on 60 off 47 balls. This was the Riyal Challengers' first home loss of the season.
