Chennai Super Kings, who were looking to make a comeback in IPL 2026 after winning 2 consecutive matches, again had to face defeat. Under the captaincy of Ishan Kishan, Sunrisers Hyderabad once again displayed a fighting performance and defeated Chennai by 10 runs in a close match. In this match played in Hyderabad, Sunrisers had scored 194 runs with the help of half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen. After this, Ishan Malinga and Nitish Kumar Reddy destroyed Chennai's batting and restricted the team to 184 runs. In this way Sunrisers registered their third win in the season.
Sunrisers Hyderabad made a good start in this match but the team could not maintain that pace in the last overs. The effect of this was that at one time Sunrisers, which seemed to easily score 210 runs, could reach only 194 runs. This time for Sunrisers Abhishek Sharma Gave a fast start by scoring a half-century in just 15 balls. Heinrich Klaasen scored another solid half-century.
But except Abhishek (59 runs, 22 balls) and Clauson (59 runs, 39 balls), no other batsman of Sunrisers could make such a contribution. Even captain Ishan Kishan was out without opening the account on the first ball itself. Whereas Liam Livingston, who came as an impact player, could score only 1 run in 5 balls. Anshul Kamboj and Jamie Overton took 3-3 wickets for Chennai.
Whereas Chennai had lost the wicket of Sanju Samson (7) in the second over itself but Ayush Mhatre hit 5 boundaries in the over of fast bowler Praful Hinge, who was the star of Sunrisers' last match. As soon as Mhatre (30) was out, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (19) was also out, who flopped for the sixth consecutive innings. After losing 3 wickets for just 66 runs, Sarfaraz Khan made a partnership of 46 runs with Matthew Short. But this is where CSK got the biggest blow, when Sarfaraz (25) and Dewald Brevis were out within 7 balls in the 11th and 12th overs. Brewis couldn't even open an account.
After this, Short (34) and Shivam Dubey (21) also did not last long. In the last over, CSK needed 18 runs to win but Prafulla, who gave away 53 runs in his 3 overs, gave only 7 runs and gave the team victory. SRH's Sri Lankan pacer Ishan Malinga (3/29) destroyed Chennai's middle order. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who handled the top order, also made a big contribution in the defeat of CSK by taking 2 wickets.
