In Match 27 of IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) registered a magnificent victory, defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 10 runs.

Played at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the match witnessed a flurry of runs and remained a tight contest right until the very end.

SRH’s Explosive Batting Sets Up a Massive Total

Batting first, SRH posted a formidable total of 194/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

The team got off to a blistering start, with Abhishek Sharma smashing 59 runs off just 22 deliveries.

His strike rate exceeded 268, effectively setting the tone for the match. At the other end, Heinrich Klaasen anchored the innings, scoring 59 runs off 39 balls and guiding the team to a substantial total by the finish.

CSK attempted to stage a comeback during the middle overs. Anshul Kamboj and Jamie Overton claimed three wickets each to briefly stem SRH’s momentum; however, by that point, Hyderabad’s score had already surged well ahead.

CSK’s Chase Falls Short; Match Slips Away in the Final Overs

Chasing a target of 195 runs, CSK got off to a somewhat shaky start.

The team found itself under pressure following the early fall of wickets.

However, Ayush Mhatre breathed new life into the contest by scoring 30 runs off just 13 balls. Matthew Short (34 runs) and Sarfaraz Khan (25 runs) also made efforts to stabilize the innings.

Nevertheless, SRH’s bowlers struck at crucial moments, pushing CSK onto the back foot. Eshan Malinga made a significant impact by claiming three wickets, while Nitish Kumar Reddy bagged two.

In the final overs, CSK required runs at a rapid pace; however, due to the continuous fall of wickets, the team could only manage to reach a total of 182 runs.

For CSK, Jamie Overton remained at the crease until the very end, finishing unbeaten on 16 runs, though he was unable to steer his team to victory.

The match also saw a high count of ‘extras,’ which provided CSK with a slight advantage, but ultimately, it proved insufficient.

With this victory, SRH has strengthened its position in IPL 2026, while CSK has suffered a major setback due to this defeat.
