IPL: 2026: Priyansh and Connolly beat LSG bowlers after being lured by captain Iyer

Captain Iyer said, when you let the players play as they wish, they perform at their best.

Mullanpur. Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer said after the win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 match that the second wicket partnership between Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly was excellent.

Punjab Kings continued their winning campaign with a 54-run win thanks to half-centuries from Priyansh (93 runs) and Connolly (87 runs) and a 182-run partnership between them for the second wicket. Iyer said after the match, the partnership between the two was fantastic, some of the shots were mind-blowing. Making the fast bowlers go on the back-foot and hit straight shots. The restraint shown by both of them in the middle overs was tremendous.

He said, I was talking to Cooper and Arya, I said let’s see who hits the most sixes.

You will get my bat as a reward. It may sound strange. But hopefully this will bring happiness to all of us. Iyer said, I believe that when you let players play the way they want, they perform at their best. This is our basic mantra. I don’t tell them how to play their innings. They have their own set method. Coach Ricky Ponting encourages the players just before the match, I also say a few things from my side. Then the boys take to the field and show their magic.

He said, most of our bowlers are of international level and have a lot of experience.

We already have plans ready against certain batsmen, we just have to execute them properly. They simply should not be careless under any circumstances. Punjab Kings remain on top of the table with 11 points from five wins from six matches. This is LSG’s third consecutive defeat.

Punjab Kings scored a huge score of 254 runs for seven wickets. In reply, LSG team could score only 200 runs for five wickets in 20 overs in which captain Rishabh Pant scored 43 runs, Aiden Markram scored 42 runs, Mitchell Marsh scored 40 runs and Ayush Badoni scored 35 runs.
