Abhishek Sharma’s record-laden century led Sunrisers Hyderabad to a dominating 47-run win against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday, April 21. The SRH opener smashed an unbeaten 135 runs against DC and took a lead in the Orange Cap race for the first time this season.
Abhishek became the first player to reach 300 runs this season, and was followed by Heinrich Klaasen, who smashed 37* off 13 balls against Delhi. Both SRH batsmen have taken a big lead in the Orange Cap this season, scoring more than 50 runs more than Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli.
Meanwhile, Eshan Malinga continued his red-hot form for Sunrisers Hyderabad with four wickets against Delhi Capitals, and entered the Purple Cap race. The Sri Lankan pacer became the seventh bowler to take 10 or more wickets in IPL 2026 after the SRH vs DC game.
Abhishek Sharma’s 135-run innings against Delhi took him to the top of the scoring chart after the 31st match of the season. After the SRH vd DC game, he has 323 runs in seven innings at an average of 53.83 and a strike rate of 215.33. The World No. 1 T20I batter also took a lead in the six-hitting chart with 27 sixes this season, five more than second-placed Rajat Patidar.
Heinrich Klaasen is not far behind Abhishek with 320 runs in seven innings, having scored seven consecutive 3-plus scores this season. GT skipper Shubman Gill is a strong contender for the Orange Cap this season with 265 runs in just five innings, followed by a two-time Orange Cap winner, Virat Kohli, and 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
CSK pacer Anshul Kamboj leads the Purple Cap race with 13 wickets in six innings and is closely followed by Prasidh Krishna. Eshan Malinga entered the race after the SRH vs DC game in Hyderabad and now has 12 wickets in seven innings. He is the only overseas player among the top five wicket-takers in IPL 2026 so far.
