Actually, Dravid's tenure had ended after the ICC World Cup 2023, but due to lack of time and the proximity of the T20 World Cup, Rahul Dravid's tenure was extended. However, now the board does not want to retain him for this post and that is why they have invited applications. India wants to have only one coach for all three formats, so whoever takes over this responsibility will have to stay with the team for about 10 months. However, now a big news is coming out.

According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, BCCI has approached Gambhir for the post of head coach. The board wants to bring him in place of Rahul Dravid. However, now it will be interesting to see whether Gautam wants to take the responsibility of this post or not.

If we talk about Gambhir, he has been playing the role of coaching in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the last 3 years. During this period, the former Indian player has done good work and that is why BCCI wants to select him for the responsibility. Let us tell you that Gautam was associated with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL as a mentor for two years and during this time the team had qualified for the playoffs both times. So in IPL 2024, Gambhir has left Lucknow and joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Gautam is currently associated with Kolkata as a mentor and the team has performed well under his coaching. KKR had also finished at the bottom in the points table last season, but this time after the addition of Gautam, the attitude of the team has changed and Kolkata became the team to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024.
