Former India player Sunil Gavaskar was miffed with Ishan Kishan, who failed miserably in the Indian Premier League 2024. Despite earning a lot of money, the southpaw didn’t show any intent to score runs for Mumbai Indians. Gavaskar accused him of taking cricket for granted.
“Ishan Kishan didn’t play any cricket after leaving South Africa. Ishan thought he would dominate bowlers in IPL but cricket teaches you a lesson if you start disrespecting it. Cricket is one game that will hit back if you start taking it for granted.
“You can’t just come and start hitting. In IPL, you play against international players and they will not allow you to go after them,” Sunil Gavaskar said.
Irfan Pathan agreed with Gavaskar. “He was not mentally ready for domestic cricket. Ishan prepared himself for IPL but his body was not ready to compete in the tournament,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mumbai became the first team to be eliminated from the playoff race in the 17th season.
