Former Indian bowler Varun Aaron believes MS Dhoni will score runs when Chennai Super Kings face Royal Challenger Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on 18 May. Also, this could be Dhoni’s final IPL match. The game is the last contest of RCB and CSK as they fight for the remaining playoff spot.
Three teams have qualified for the playoffs and there’s room for only one franchise. It could be be the end of Dhoni’s remarkable IPL career, if RCB, who have scripted a great comeback win the match. But if CSK win against a revitalised RCB, they will go to Ahmedabad for the next round.
“I feel like this game will be the MS show since everything is leading up to it. I have a feeling that’s how things will turn out because he loves playing at the Chinnaswamy Stadium,” Aaron said on Star Sports.
Varun Aaron emphasized on Dhoni’s stellar record versus RCB at Chinnaswamy Stadium. In the nine games, the CSK legend has smashed 376 runs at an average of 125.33 and an astounding strike rate of 184.31.
“He has had some outstanding innings in Bengaluru. It’s actually imprinted in my memory that he went after Umesh Yadav in the final over. He scored 20–21 runs by himself. MS Dhoni at Chinnaswamy Stadium is lethal,” Aaron added.
Aaron believes that the World Cup-winning skipper won’t be impacted despite being riddled by injuries which have prevented him from batting in the middle order.
“He’s one of those men who overlooks his injury and has a pretty high pain threshold. Given the importance of the game and his outstanding achievements this season, it’s difficult to rule out the chance that Dhoni could steal the spotlight. He will lead Chennai to the playoffs in a thrilling way if given a chance.”
