Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season has been very bad for Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya. In its last league match played at Wankhede Stadium on Friday (May 17), Mumbai had to face defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and then the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took major action against the star all-rounder.
Actually, Hardik was found guilty of slow over rate in the match against Lucknow and he has been banned for one match. This means that the MI captain will not be able to play his first match in IPL 2025.

It is known that Pandya has been held guilty of slow over rate twice before. IPL issued a statement saying that as per the IPL Code of Conduct regarding slow over rate, this is Mumbai Indians' third mistake of this season. Due to this, a fine of Rs 30 lakh has been imposed on Hardik and he has been banned from the next match.
Pandya is the second captain to face a one-match ban in IPL 2024. Earlier this action was also taken against Rishabh Pant. Due to slow over rate, he was banned for one match and was dropped from the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
If we talk about the match, Mumbai Indians had to face defeat by 18 runs against Lucknow Super Giants, ending their IPL 2024 journey with a defeat.
What are the rules?
According to the code of conduct related to slow over rate of IPL, if the captain of a team commits the offense for the first time, then he is fined Rs 12 lakh. If the same captain makes the mistake for the second time in the same season, then a fine of Rs 24 lakh is imposed and if the same mistake happens for the third time, then the captain is banned for one match.
