Delhi: In the 39th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) in a one-sided manner by 9 wickets. With this victory, Bengaluru achieved its sixth success in the season and the team’s confidence appeared stronger.
After the match, captain Rajat Patidar gave full credit for the victory to his bowling unit. He especially praised Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. According to Patidar, the way these two fast bowlers bowled with precise line-length and swing during the powerplay, the course of the match was decided from there.
It is noteworthy that in this match played at Delhi’s home ground Arun Jaitley Stadium, Hazlewood performed lethally, taking 4 wickets for only 12 runs in 3.3 overs. At the same time, Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent 3 batsmen to the pavilion after giving just 5 runs in 3 overs. On the basis of this brilliant bowling, the entire Delhi team was reduced to 75 runs in 16.3 overs.
After the match was over, Patidar said that the nature of the wicket was different from what was expected and he himself was surprised by it. He said that the bowlers, understanding the conditions, bowled the ball at the right places and took advantage of the light swing in the initial overs, which became an important reason for the team’s success.
On the question regarding swing, Patidar said that the conditions were normal, but getting early wickets proved to be decisive. He also said that in a format like T20, especially on flat pitches, a strong bowling attack is very important, because sometimes a single bowler can turn the whole game and has the ability to help the team win the title.
While chasing the target, Bengaluru won the match very easily and won with 81 balls remaining, which is considered to be one of the most impressive victories of this season.
