Kyle Jamieson, representing Delhi Capitals, has been handed a warning along with one Demerit Point for breaching Level 1 of the Indian Premier League Code of Conduct during Match No. 43 against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

The incident occurred during Friday night’s clash in Jaipur, a game that had generated significant buzz due to the anticipated face-off between young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and star pacer Mitchell Starc. However, Jamieson quickly stole the spotlight by dismissing the teenage batter in just the second over, cutting short what many expected to be an exciting duel.

Sooryavanshi made an immediate impression, confidently driving an overpitched delivery for a boundary on the very first ball he faced. The shot, struck cleanly past long-off, showcased his composure and talent. But Jamieson responded cleverly on the very next delivery. Adjusting his approach, he bowled a dipping full toss that deceived the youngster with its late movement and change in trajectory.

Sooryavanshi attempted to defend but misjudged the delivery.

The ball slipped under his bat, took a faint under edge, and deflected onto the stumps via his back pad, ending his brief but eventful stay at the crease. It was a classic setup, luring the batter with a hittable ball before executing a smart variation.

Following the dismissal, Jamieson celebrated the wicket in close proximity to the batter, an action that was deemed to have breached the conduct guidelines. While Sooryavanshi showed commendable restraint by not reacting, the bowler’s celebration resulted in disciplinary action from the authorities.

“Jamieson was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to ‘using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player in the match’. The incident occurred in the second over of the first innings, when, after dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Jamieson was found to be close to him in an aggressive manner, which could have provoked an aggressive reaction from the batter,” the BCCI stated in the release.

DC bounced back to winning ways with an impressive seven-wicket victory over RR at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Friday, May 1. After winning the toss, RR opted to bat first and put up a formidable total of 225 runs. Riyan Parag led from the front with a scintillating knock of 90, striking at an impressive rate of 180.

In the death overs, Donovan Ferreira provided the late flourish, smashing a quickfire 47 to power the Royals to a challenging total.

The opening pair of Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul laid a strong foundation with a superb 110-run partnership. Nissanka played a fluent innings of 62, while Rahul anchored the chase brilliantly with a well-crafted 75. Their efforts ensured that Delhi remained in control throughout the innings, eventually chasing down the target with five balls to spare.
