The journey of Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026 has not been very good so far. Many star players of the team have failed to leave their mark. But Gaikwad pitted inexperienced Prashant against in-form Rickleton, which surprised everyone and the decision proved to be wrong.

CSK had made a big bid

This is the first IPL season of spin-allrounder Prashant Veer, who plays for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. This young player, just 20 years old, made a lot of headlines during the auction last year because CSK spent a huge amount on him. Leaving many teams behind, Chennai had made a hefty bid of Rs 14.2 crore for uncapped player Prashant with a base price of only Rs 30 lakh.
