Jamie Overton Ruled Out of Remainder of IPL 2026 With Right Thigh Injury

Chennai Super Kings have dealt another major blow as English all-rounder Jamie Overton will be travelling back home after sustaining a right thigh injury.

He will be the 8th player for the side to be ruled out of the season. He has returned to the UK for further assessment ahead of CSK’s clash against Lucknow Super Giants.

The development comes after the side has announced MacNeil Noronha as a replacement for the injured Ramakrishna Ghosh.

“Jamie Overton has a right thigh injury and will be returning to the UK for further assessment and management,” said CSK in an official statement.

Jamie Overton played a crucial role in CSK’s ongoing campaign. Having featured in 10 games, he picked 14 wickets at an average of 17.78 and an economy of 8.89 and scored 136 runs at a strike rate of 158.13.

With no like-for-like replacement available in the CSK squad, CSK will be likely use Spencer Johnson in the squad. However, CSK’s identity MS Dhoni is yet to feature in a game and have not traveled to Lucknow with rest of the CSK squad for the reverse fixture.

Despite a poor start, Chennai Super Kings made a brilliant comeback having 6 wins out of 11 games and is a strong contention for finishing in the top four. CSK have shown resilience despite their set backs with a long list of injury concerns.

CSK are currently with 12 points and sits in the fifth position of the IPL 2026 points table.

Chennai Super Kings will play their reverse fixture against Lucknow Super Giants on May 15 at Ekana Cricket Ground, Lucknow.
