Delhi: Australia's aggressive opening batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk has been named in the final squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Fraser-McGurk was not named in the initial list, but has now been paired with spinner Matt Short as a traveling reserve. Fraser-McGurk has batted brilliantly in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, for which he has now been rewarded.

Australia head coach Andrew McDonald spoke to cricket.com.au after the final squad was announced and said Fraser-McGurk was one of the favorites to be included in the final 15. He revealed that Fraser-McGurk was not selected in the main team because the top order included players like David Warner, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green.
Andrew Mac Donald told cricket.com.au, “You look at Jake's form in the IPL, he took it by storm and he was a strong contender for the last 15 and Matthew Short was also like that. “Their BBL form has been excellent for a long time and they have shown glimpses of it at international level as well, but we think they both have the ability to play anywhere in that batting line-up.”
For your information, let us tell you that Australia will play its first match in the tournament against Oman on June 5.
