Harbhajan Singh has shown interest in Team India’s head coach post. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is looking for a new candidate as Rahul Dravid’s tenure will end after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. With the apex body deciding to go for the process from the scratch and Dravid not interested in reapplying, the Men in Blue will welcome a new head of the coaching staff.
Stephen Fleming is the preferred choice, but the current head coach of Chennai Super Kings is reluctant due to the demanding nature of the job. Justin Langer, Ricky Ponting and Gautam Gambhir are also said to be in fray, but they will have to apply for the post.
BCCI is thinking of using MS Dhoni’s services to convince Fleming. Meanwhile, Bhaji hasn’t decided to submit his papers for the post but he is ready to coach the national team.
“I haven’t decided whether to apply for it or not. The job of the coach is to manage the players. You don’t need to correct them as they already know how to play strokes or bowl doosra. However, a little bit of inputs are required to give them confidence. If given a chance I am ready for the job as cricket has given me everything and it is time to give something back to the game,” he told ANI.
