Delhi: The search is on to find out who will be the head coach of Team India after Rahul Dravid. So far, names of Gautam Gambhir, Stephen Pleming, Ricky Ponting, Justin Langer have appeared in the list of contenders. Meanwhile, now the name of former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has also come to light. According to reports, Bhajji wants to become the head coach of the Indian team and has shown interest for the post.
The tenure of current head coach Rahul Dravid is till ICC T20 World Cup 2024. After this Team India will get a new coach. For this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications.
According to reports, Harbhajan is fully prepared to play this role. Bhajji said that if I get a chance to coach the Indian team, then I am ready for it.
Speaking to ANI, he said, “I don't know whether I will apply or not, but the coaching man of Team India is the management's job. The players just have to manage there. No one needs to be taught how to hit a cover drive or a pull shot. Apart from this, you do not need to teach any bowler how to bowl. Everyone knows about this. Just need a little guidance.”

He further said, “If I get a chance, I will definitely do coaching. Cricket has given me everything. In such a situation, if I get a chance to give something back to cricket, I will definitely do it.”
It is noteworthy that recently there were reports that former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir will be the new head coach of Team India. However, no response has come from their side yet. In such a situation, it remains to be seen who the Board of Control for Cricket in India appoints as the head coach.
