Delhi: Thanks to captain Shreyas Iyer’s historic century and Prabhsimran Singh’s explosive half-century, Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by seven wickets in the 68th match of IPL 2026 on Saturday, May 23. Batting first, Lucknow gave Punjab a target of 197 runs with the help of Josh English’s half-century.

Due to Josh Inglis’s brilliant half-century and Ayush Badoni’s stormy batting, Lucknow Super Giants had given the target of 197 runs to Punjab Kings. English played an innings of 72 runs in 44 balls. English hit 9 fours and two sixes in his innings. Whereas Badoni scored 43 runs in 18 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes. Lucknow’s innings had a bad start. Lucknow had lost two wickets within 20 runs.

After this Badoni added 49 runs in 23 balls with English. Out of which Badoni alone scored 43 runs. After Badoni was out, English added 65 runs in 43 balls with Rishabh Pant for the fourth wicket. Pant was out after scoring 26 runs in 22 balls. In the last over, Abdul Samad played an inning of 37 runs in 20 balls. Due to which Lucknow scored 196 runs after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Marco Johnson and Yuzvendra Chahal got two successes each from Punjab.

But after this there was a tremendous century partnership between Iyer and Prabhasimran. Together they added 140 runs in 76 balls for the third wicket. Iyer scored a brilliant historic century. Iyer won the match for the team by hitting a six and also completed his century. Iyer played an unbeaten inning of 101 runs in 51 balls. Iyer hit 11 fours and five sixes in his innings. Whereas Prabhasimran played an inning of 69 runs in 39 balls. He hit seven fours and two sixes in his innings. Due to which Punjab easily achieved the target of 197 runs two overs earlier. This is Punjab’s seventh win in 14 matches. With this victory, she has reached fourth place on the points table. With this win, Punjab has kept alive its hopes of reaching the playoffs. Iyer was chosen Player of the Match for his historic innings. Mohammed Shami was the most successful bowler from Lucknow. He took two wickets.
