Delhi: Even though the journey of Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was not as per the expectations, the team ended the season with a spectacular win in its last match. Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav played an important role in the 40-run victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He took three wickets for 29 runs and was chosen player of the match. After the match, Kuldeep openly admitted that this season was not good for him personally.
Kuldeep Yadav said that he was not satisfied with his performance and had very high expectations from himself. He admitted that things did not go according to plan both at the team and individual level. Kuldeep said that the Delhi Capitals team failed to make it to the top-4, which he regrets a lot. He also said that he could not regain his rhythm throughout the season.
After the last match of Delhi Capitals, Kuldeep returned to his home and worked hard with his coach there. He also played a practice match so that he could understand the shortcomings of his bowling. Kuldeep told that in white ball cricket many small things are easily missed and he worked again on those aspects. His coach advised him to spin the ball more and hit the batsman in the air.
Kuldeep Yadav admitted that in the last few matches, his body was not being fully utilized while bowling. He was just pushing the ball, which the T20 batsmen were taking advantage of. He said that when there is more spin on the ball and proper use of the body, then both dip and drift are seen in the ball, which causes problems to the batsmen.
Kuldeep bowled brilliantly from the beginning against Kolkata Knight Riders. He dismissed Cameron Green early, while changing the course of the match by sending Ajinkya Rahane and Rinku Singh to the pavilion on consecutive balls. Rinku Singh’s wicket was special, because Kuldeep dodged him by keeping the pace low and the batsman was out while trying to play the shot.
Kuldeep Yadav also had a golden opportunity to take a hat-trick in IPL. He edged Tejashwi Dahiya on the next ball, but wicketkeeper Abhishek Porel was not successful in taking an easy catch. However, Kuldeep called it a part of the game and said that he was very satisfied with his performance. He said that whether he gets a hat-trick or not, he is most happy to get his rhythm back.
