Hardik Pandya could well be on his way out of the Mumbai Indians as the all-rounder gave another teaser to the fans. After enduring a tough campaign as the skipper and missing three matches during the season, speculations are high on Pandya’s exit. However, his latest “07:07” Instagram story suggests that he could replace MS Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as excitement grows among fans.
A cryptic Instagram story from Hardik Pandya has fueled widespread rumors regarding his potential departure from the Mumbai Indians. The post, which simply displayed “07:07,” prompted immediate speculation among fans and analysts, many of whom interpreted the digits as a nod to MS Dhoni’s famous jersey number, suggesting a possible trade to the Chennai Super Kings.
These rumours have gained traction following a difficult IPL campaign where Pandya’s leadership was frequently questioned. Although nothing has been confirmed, the ambiguous nature of the post has left many wondering if the all-rounder is preparing for a high-profile move.
It is now likely that Hardik’s potential destination could be the Chennai Super Kings, where he could replace MS Dhoni. It is worth noting that Dhoni is unlikely to play in IPL 2027, having missed the entire season this time. This rumour was further amplified by reports of internal tension within the Mumbai Indians, including a brief instance where Pandya reportedly unfollowed the franchise on social media.
While some social media discourse has even discussed potential player-swap deals involving others like Shivam Dube, neither franchise has issued an official statement confirming any such move.
The Mumbai Indians had a dull IPL 2026, as they only avoided finishing bottom of the league on net run rate. They and Lucknow Super Giants both finished with eight points (four wins each), meaning they also finished eight points behind the Playoff places. Hardik was MI’s captain for the majority of these matches.
Under Hardik’s captaincy, MI won three matches from 11, while he did not play in three matches due to injury. Under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, MI won one match and lost two, enduring a tough season.
