Delhi Capitals' opening batsman KL Rahul created history just as IPL 2026 was concluding. In the last league stage match against Kolkata Knight Riders, KL Rahul played a blistering innings of 60 runs off 30 balls at a strike rate of 200. During this, he hit 5 fours and 4 towering sixes. With these 4 sixes, he broke Chris Gayle's record. The record is for hitting more than 30 sixes in a single IPL season for the most different franchises.

KL Rahul has previously been a part of the Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants before joining the Delhi Capitals in the IPL. He has now hit more than 30 sixes in an IPL season for all three of these teams. With this, KL Rahul has become the first player in IPL history to achieve this feat. Chris Gayle and Glenn Maxwell have hit more than 30 sixes in a season for two IPL teams each.

Gayle accomplished this feat 4 times for Royal Challengers Bangalore and once for Punjab Kings. Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell has hit more than 30 sixes in a season once each for RCB and PBKS.

This was KL Rahul's 51st fifty-plus score (50 or more runs) in the IPL. With this, he has equaled Rohit Sharma in terms of the most fifty-plus scores in IPL history. Both these stalwarts now have 51 fifty-plus scores each. Above them in this list are three players – Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, and Virat Kohli. Kohli holds the record for the most fifty-plus scores in the IPL with 76.
