IPL 2026 season has reached its final week where the four remaining teams make a play for the title. Royal Challengers Bengaluru the defending champions are looking to become the third side after Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians to successfully defend their title. Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals will want to end that dream and win their second IPL title respectively. The team that wins the RCB vs GT clash today will not only qualify for the finals but also get a good break to assess their strategies ahead of the title match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday night.
Rajat Patidar and his side have played good cricket this season and have made it to the playoffs thanks to some power packed performances. Virat Kohli has scored 557 runs while Devdutt Padikkal has scored 433 runs this season. Two batters with close to 1000 runs batting in the top three makes the side very dangerous. Skipper Patidar himself has managed to score 393 runs this season to give his team the much-needed solidity in the middle-order. Phil Salt is set to return to the playing XI and will replace Jacob Bethell who has injured himself and was also going through bad run of form with the bat.
The bowling led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar has seen the pacer pick 24 wickets with Rasikh Salam Dar providing great support with 14 scalps. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans possess one of the most powerful batting units. Sai Sudharsan is the leading run-getter this year with 638 runs from 14 games, with skipper Shubman Gill just on his heels with 616 runs. The duo has batted well and mixed caution with aggression and taken the best bowlers to task in the powerplay overs. If Gill has played with intent in the first six overs, Sudharsan has dropped the anchor and played well to keep the scoreboard ticking.
Jos Buttler has also come back to his best form scoring 57 runs in each in his last two games. The trio of Kagiso Rabada, Rashid Khan, and Mohammed Siraj have picked 60 wickets between them. Jason Holder who replaced Glenn Phillips in the side has done well with the bat and ball to give the Titans more depth in their XI.The two sides have played eight matches against each other with four wins each. In the last five matches though, it is RCB that has the slight upper hand.
