New Delhi: Byju's Learning App founder Byju Raveendran has been sentenced to 6 months in jail in Singapore. He has received this punishment for continuously ignoring the court orders related to giving information about his assets and not appearing in the court. The court has ordered him to surrender immediately in Singapore. Besides, he has also been asked to deposit 90,000 Singapore dollars (about Rs 67.46 lakh) as legal expenses. The court was asking Byju Raveendran for details of his assets since April 2024. But he did not obey the orders of the court several times, after which this action was taken.

The court has also directed him to submit documents proving his stake in a Singapore company 'Biar Investco'. This whole matter started on the complaint of a subsidiary company of Qatar Investment Authority. This is another major setback for Byju's in its ongoing legal battles with investors around the world. At present, there is no information about the whereabouts of Byju Raveendran. According to the court order, he will have to surrender before the Singapore authorities.

Legal action is also going on against Byju's in America. An American court has also earlier made harsh remarks against Byju in the matter of repayment of loan of 1.2 billion dollars. After making a name for itself across the world by becoming one of India's most successful startups, Byju's is now facing a huge decline.
