Ravichandran Ashwin was in awe of Virat Kohli's intensity during the Qualifier 1 clash between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Tuesday, May 26.
After scoring 43 off 25 balls in the first innings and helping the defending champions post a formidable total of 254/5, Kohli's energy on the field was top-notch. Ashwin opined that from Kohli's celebration after GT lost wickets seemed as if it was the former India captain bowling.
"Did you see Virat's celebrations when the first four wickets fell? Pehle 4 wicket usne hi liya hai [It seemed like he had taken those four wickets].
From where do you get this kind of intensity? Har jo wicket hai, tera wicket jaisa kaise celebrate kar raha hai yaar? (How can you celebrate every wicket like it's your wicket?) I enjoyed it a lot," Ashwin said in a video on his YouTube channel.
Ashwin said that Kohli's energy and intensity on the field are inhuman. The 37-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down.
How has Kohli fared in IPL 2026?"Woh insaan nahi hai [He is not human]. He is something else.
He has come from some other planet. I don't know where he has come from; he is not human," Ashwin stated.
Kohli has had another fantastic season with the bat for RCB this year. He has played 15 innings, scoring 600 runs at a staggering average of 50 and a commendable strike rate of 164.39. The right-handed batter has already notched up four fifties and a solitary century. His highest score of 105 off 60 balls came against the Kolkata Knight Riders earlier in the season.
RCB bowled out the Titans for 162 in 19.3 overs to win the match by 92 runs.
Rajat Patidar won the Player of the Match award for his exemplary knock of 93* off 33 deliveries.
