Virat Kohli’s no-handshake spat with Travis Head has snowballed into a major controversy. The two players were involved in a banter during the SRH vs RCB game, which led to Kohli deciding not to shake the Australian player’s hand at the end of the game. Post this, the cricketer’s fanbase was quick to hop on to social media and abuse Travis Head’s wife, Jessica.
Ex-India batter Aakash Chopra took to his X-account and posted a tweet which read: “People abusing Wives…kids…are the lowest form of scumbags. Some might be found under this comment, too. Same lowlifes won’t handle an iota of criticism about themselves or their idols. Hypocrites,”
The 48-year-old also wrote, ‘Handles with a certain behaviour pattern on this platform have coincidentally one common DP. Intriguing.” Fans have been divided over the issues, and there is a massive number of fans who aren’t impressed with the former Indian skipper’s behaviour.
Jessica, the better half of the Australian batter’s wife, recently said that her family and friends were being targeted. Mrs Head, during her chat with an Australian daily, said that the same had happened post the 2023 ODI World Cup, which Australia had won. The left-handed batter had scored a match-winning ton in that game. She also said that abusing them was fine, but a large portion of the fans were reaching out to their family members and friends and abusing them as well.
Yet another former India batter, Wasim Jafferwas one of the earliest names to come out and condemn the entire no-handshake fiasco. Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said, “Don’t know what happened on the ground, but it should have ended on the field, could have shaken his hands.”
Ex-Indian batter also said, “He (Virat) is an ambassador of the game, and there are many who watch and idolize him. This reaction wasn’t right.” On the field, Bengaluru became the first side to reach the IPL 2026 finals after beating Gujarat Titans by 92 runs on Tuesday in Dharamsala.
