New Chandigarh: The excitement of the knockout stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) has reached its peak. In a very high-scoring eliminator match played at the New Chandigarh ground on Wednesday, May 27, Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by a huge margin of 47 runs. With this resounding victory, Rajasthan Royals have secured the ticket for Qualifier-2, while the IPL 2026 journey of Sunrisers Hyderabad, captained by Pat Cummins, has ended here. Now Rajasthan will face Gujarat Titans (GT) for a place in the final.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s ‘Vaibhav’: Scored 97 runs in 29 balls
In this match, Rajasthan Royals, who came to bat first after losing the toss, scored a mountain-like score of 243 runs after losing 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. The biggest contribution in helping Rajasthan reach this huge score came from just 15 year old young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi. As soon as Vaibhav came on the field, he destroyed the Hyderabad bowlers. He played an incredible and stormy inning of 97 runs facing just 29 balls. In his ‘Vaibhav’ innings, he hit only 5 fours and a record 12 skyscraper sixes. However, he missed his century by just 3 runs. Apart from him, Dhruv Jurel in the middle order also put the team in a strong position by scoring a brilliant half-century (50 runs).
The Sunrisers Hyderabad team, which came out to chase the huge and Everest like target of 244 runs, looked under pressure from the very beginning and the entire team was limited to 196 runs in 19.2 overs. The big heroes of Hyderabad proved to be a complete flop in this do or die match. While opener Abhishek Sharma could not even open his account (0 runs), dangerous Travis Head returned to the pavilion after scoring only 17 runs and Heinrich Klaasen scored 18 runs. Nitish Kumar Reddy scored the maximum 38 runs for the team, while wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan contributed 33 runs, but it was insufficient for victory.
After completing the work of Hyderabad in the eliminator match, now Rajasthan Royals have their eyes on the ticket for the final. Rajasthan team will now take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier-2. This great match will be played on 29 May 2026 at Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh from 7:30 pm.
The battle to capture the IPL 2026 trophy is now in the final stages. Whichever team wins between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier-2 match to be held on May 29, it will directly enter the final. After this, the title match will be played against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 31 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which has already secured its place in the final.
