A solid century from Shubman Gill has powered the Gujarat Titans to post a 7-wicket victory against the Rajasthan Royals in the qualifier 02 of the IPL 2026 played at New Chandigarh.
His knock included 104 runs off 53 deliveries, which included 15 fours and 3 sixes. By this win, the Gujarat Titans secured their spot in the finals to be played against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Ahmedabad.
After choosing to bat first, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi opened the innings while Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling attack.
Siraj brought the first wicket, dismissing Jaiswal for 1 run. He got dismissed on the back of a length delivery, which Prasidh Krishna took a simple catch at Deep.
Dhruv Jurel, who came to bat at No.3, got dismissed by Kagiso Rabada for 7 runs. He got dismissed after a catch from Shubman Gill in mid-off.
With Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ravindra Jadeja at the crease, Rajasthan Royals scored 70 runs in the power play.
With Jadeja (34) walking off the field with retired hurt, Riyan Parag came to bat who got dismissed for 11 runs by Jason Holder. He got dismissed on a catch by Kagiso Rabada in the deep.
Jason Holder bagged his second wicket, dismissing Dasun Shanka for 3 runs. He got dismissed on an inside edge, and Jos Buttler took a simple catch behind the wickets. Jofra Archer came to bat at No. 7, aiming to stabilise the innings after the Rajasthan Royals’ losing cluster of wickets.
Prasidh Krishna bagged his first wicket, dismissing Jofra Archer for 7 runs. He got dismissed after an outside edge, and Jos Buttler took a catch behind the wickets.
Jadeja returned to bat as Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed his fifty off 31 deliveries. He went on to accelerate the innings, scoring 96 runs off 47 deliveries before being dismissed by Kagiso Rabada.
He got dismissed on a catch by Prasidh Krishna at third man after playing a mature innings. Donovan Ferreira, who came to bat, played a quick cameo 38* runs off 11 deliveries.
With the duo at the crease, Rajasthan Royals scored 214/6 in their 20-over innings. Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten for 45 runs.
Jason Holder and Kagiso Rabada picked up two wickets each, while Siraj and Prasidh Krishna completed with a wicket tally.
Chasing 215 run target, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill opened the innings while Jofra Archer opened the bowling attack.
The duo made a solid start, scoring 69 runs in the power play. Gill showed an explosive knock while Sudharsan played a composed knock.
Shubman Gill smashed a 30-ball fifty while Sai Sudharsan smashed a 26-ball fifty as the duo is steadily taking the side toward victory.
The duo forged a 167-run partnership for the first wicket, posting one of the highest opening partnerships in IPL history. Jos Buttler, who came to bat at No.3, joined Gill in aiming to complete the chase.
In the meantime, Shubman Gill smashed his 5th IPL century in just 47 deliveries and scored 104 runs before being dismissed by Jofra Archer on an lbw.
Washington Sundar, who came to bat at No.4, scored 16 runs off 9 deliveries before being dismissed by Nandre Burger. With Rahul Tewatia’s unbeaten 17* runs, the Gujarat Titans completed the chase with 8 balls remaining to spare.
