The Gujarat Titans will have little time to recover ahead of Sunday’s IPL 2026 final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru after its chartered flight from Chandigarh to Ahmedabad was delayed due to torrential rain and storms across North-West India.
According to the original schedule, the team was set to leave Chandigarh on Saturday afternoon. However, adverse weather conditions prevented airport authorities from issuing take-off clearance, resulting in delays to several commercial flights as well.
Confirming the development, sources told Sports stars that the Gujarat team is expected to arrive in Ahmedabad only late on Saturday night. From there, it would take approximately 40 minutes to reach its hotel in Gandhinagar.
“The team will have no turnaround time, but certain things are beyond one’s control,” a source said.
Traditionally, the IPL Playoffs have been staged across two venues. This season, however, three venues – Dharamshala, New Chandigarh and Ahmedabad – were selected, forcing teams to undertake extensive travel across Northern and Western India.
While RCB arrived in Ahmedabad on Wednesday and managed two training sessions ahead of the final, Gujarat Titans was unable to train because of its hectic travel schedule. With the weather further disrupting plans, the Titans face the challenge of regrouping quickly and arriving fresh for the title clash
