Delhi: The final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is to be played on Sunday, May 31, in which Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will face each other. This high-voltage match between the two teams will be held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Before the final, there is intense discussion among cricket fans about the weather, because the possibility of rain has raised many questions regarding the match.
The tournament organizers have arranged for a reserve day for the final. If the match is not completed on Sunday due to bad weather or rain, then the remaining or entire match will be played on the next day i.e. Monday. This will give both the teams a level playing field and an attempt will be made to decide the winner on the field.
If the weather conditions continue even on the reserve day and the match cannot be held, then points table will be used to decide the winner as per the rules.
However, for any result it is necessary to have a game of at least five overs each. If this is also not possible, then the team securing the top position in the league stage will be declared the champion. After the end of the league stage, Royal Challengers Bangalore stood first in the points table, while Gujarat Titans stood second. In such a situation, if the game cannot be played on both the final and reserve day, then under the rules Bengaluru will be declared the winner and the trophy will be in its name.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have a great opportunity to create history. The team won the IPL title for the first time under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar in the 2025 season. Now Bengaluru would like to achieve a special feat by winning the trophy for the second consecutive year.
Before this, only two teams have made the record of winning the IPL trophy in two consecutive seasons.
Chennai Super Kings won consecutive titles in 2010 and 2011 under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. At the same time, Mumbai Indians won the 2019 and 2020 seasons under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. Now all eyes are on whether Royal Challengers Bangalore will also be successful in making its place in this exclusive list or Gujarat Titans will spoil its dreams.
