Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the IPL 2026 title by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday. This is RCB’s second consecutive trophy. For RCB this season, Virat Kohli took the most runs and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took the most wickets. These two players were discussed a lot throughout the season. But young fast bowler Rasikh Salam did not get that much limelight. Rasikh emerged as the unsung hero of the team.
Rasikh took the most wickets for RCB in the title match of IPL 2026. Rasikh took three wickets for just 27 runs in four overs. Whenever Rasikh was given bowling throughout the season, he bowled brilliantly for the team. Rasikh took many important wickets for the team in both middle overs and death overs. But there was almost no discussion between Kohli-Bhuvneshwar, captain Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal.
Rasikh bowled brilliantly in IPL 2026. Rasikh took more wickets this season than veteran fast bowler Josh Hazlewood. Rasikh was the highest wicket taker for RCB after Bhuvneshwar. Rasikh took 19 wickets in 12 matches. Rasikh bowled brilliantly for the team on many occasions. Rasikh played an important role in RCB winning the trophy. But he did not get that much limelight in the entire season.
RCB has created history by winning the trophy for the second consecutive time. RCB has now become only the third team in the history of IPL to have won the IPL trophy for two consecutive seasons. Chennai Super Kings had won the title of champion for two consecutive times in 2010-2011 and then Mumbai Indians in 2019-2010. Now, after 2025, RCB has made a place in this special list by winning the title of 2026 also.
