Now after this painful accident, Delhi Police has taken major action and arrested Lavkesh Bajaj, owner of Flourish Hotel. So far 21 people have died in the accident, while dozens are seriously injured.According to officials, 21 people have lost their lives in this fire. The dead include 10 Indians and 11 foreign nationals. At the same time, 21 foreign nationals have been injured, out of which the condition of 10 is said to be very serious and they are being treated on ventilator.
Apart from this, 14 Indian citizens have also been injured. Treatment of the injured is going on in various hospitals. After the accident, the police registered a case under various sections including culpable homicide and started investigation. In this sequence, Lavkesh Bajaj, owner of Flourish Hotel, was arrested. Police are now trying to find out whether safety standards were being followed in the hotel and whether adequate rescue arrangements were in place after the fire.
According to the information, Lavkesh Bajaj operates many hotels and homestays in Delhi. About 50 meters away from the incident site, his another hotel 'Flurish Inn' is also operating, where patients coming from abroad for treatment and their families stay. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the entry road of this hotel is very narrow. It is being told that the front part is only 7 to 8 feet wide and many rooms have been made in the basement also. Apart from this, residential arrangements were also being run on the upper floors.
Experts believe that emergency exit routes and fire safety systems are very important in such buildings.According to sources, the building where the fire broke out was owned by Lavkesh Bajaj, while the guest house was being operated in the name of Jai Mishra. Police are now investigating the role and responsibilities of both the parties. It is also being seen whether the rules related to hotel operation, license and security clearance were followed or not.
After the FIR was registered, the Delhi Police team also reached the residence of Lavkesh Bajaj in Saket.
However, the police found most of the parts of the house closed. A female employee working there told that many floors of the house were locked and most of the family members were not present there. After this, the investigating agencies started questioning and examining documents at other places also.Considering the seriousness of the matter, a high level meeting was called under the chairmanship of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Instructions were given in the meeting that a magisterial inquiry should be conducted into the entire matter so that the causes of the fire, possible negligence and the role of the responsible persons could be objectively assessed. This investigation, to be conducted under the leadership of the District Magistrate, is also considered important to prevent such accidents in future.
Although the investigation is still going on, this incident has once again raised questions on the security arrangements of hotels, guest houses and homestays in the capital. Emergency exits, fire alarm systems, fire fighting equipment and building standards often play a vital role in fire incidents. If these standards are not followed, even a small incident can turn into a major accident.
