Delhi: Before the one-off Test match against Afghanistan starting on Saturday in Mullanpur, India’s former veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed great hopes for young left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey. Ashwin believes that Harsh Dubey, who has consistently performed impressively in domestic cricket, may get an opportunity to debut in Test cricket.

Tough competition between Harsh and Manav

There is intense discussion regarding the selection of an additional spinner in the playing eleven of the Indian team. In such a situation, a contest is being considered between Harsh Dubey and Manav Suthar. Ashwin also admitted that Harsh has effectively taken advantage of the opportunities he got in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This is why he feels that the young spinner may soon get a chance to wear the Test cap.

The former Indian legend also praised the batting of captain Shubman Gill. According to Ashwin, Gill showed maturity in both captaincy and batting roles during the England tour.

He proved his ability by scoring runs in difficult conditions and also performed the responsibility of the team very well.

Ashwin expressed hope that Gill will maintain the same consistency shown on foreign soil on home grounds as well and will make important contribution as captain as well as batsman in the upcoming series.
