Himachal Pradesh Earthquake: There was an atmosphere of chaos in many parts of Himachal Pradesh on Friday night when suddenly the earth started trembling. The tremors of the earthquake, which occurred at around 10.03 pm, were clearly felt in Kangra, Mandi, Chamba and surrounding areas. The intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 5 on the Richter scale, which is considered a moderate earthquake. The tremors were so strong that many people came out of their homes and shops. At some places people gathered in open fields and roads. However, till the time of writing the news, no loss of life or property has been confirmed.

There is more concern in Kangra, the area is sensitive to earthquake

Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh is counted among the most sensitive areas of the country from earthquake point of view. The devastating Kangra earthquake of 1905 is still included among the most severe earthquakes in history. In such a situation, whenever strong tremors are felt in this area, fear naturally arises in the minds of people. Local people say that this level of vibration has been felt after many years, which has created an atmosphere of panic at night.

Tremors were also felt in many cities of Punjab

The impact of the earthquake was not limited to Himachal Pradesh only. People also reported earth shaking in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Jalandhar and surrounding districts of Punjab. In many areas, people came out of their homes as a precaution. However, no damage or casualties have been reported by the Punjab administration.
