Hello and Welcome to all

International cricket is at our doors and we are all set for some Test match action to start of proceedings. It is India s Afghanistan, as the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium hosts it’s first red-ball contest. Just a week ago saw two high scoring games in the IPL but Test cricket is a completely different kettle of fish.

Indian cricket team starts their long international season with an eye on the World Test Championships final. It will not be easy since they are sitting sixth in the points table. For the first time since 2010, the Indian side will not have Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran (Retired) and Ravindra Jadeja play a home test. The veteran all-rounder has been rested alongside Axar Patel for the entire series.

Manav Suthar, Harsh Dubey, and Gurnoor Brar are the new faces in the side. Both Dubey and Suthar are proven performers in the domestic set-up with the ball and also score key runs with the bat. Brar, on the other hand will be looking ahead to the game with a hope of making his India debut in front of his home fans. The pacer is known for his pace and can generate a lot of bounce due to his height.

For the Afghanistan side led by Hasmatullah Shahidi this is a chance to play some red-ball cricket after a while. It has been eight years since they were granted their Test status. With just 12 games this will be a huge challenge for the visiting side to show how much progress they have made. But one has to remember they aren’t any pushovers as they have already beaten Bangladesh in this format of the game. incidentally, the Afghans began their Test journey against India led by Ajinkya Rahane in Bengaluru which ended inside two days.
