Delhi: In the only test match played in Mullanpur, the Indian team defeated Afghanistan by a huge margin of one innings and 300 runs. For the first time in the history of Test cricket, the Indian team has achieved such a big victory. Earlier, Team India had registered its biggest win in Test cricket in 2018 against West Indies in Rajkot.
In that test, Team India won by an innings and 272 runs.The real script of this memorable victory of India was written by the bowlers, who made the match one-sided by taking not one or two but all 15 wickets of Afghanistan on the third day of the match. Manav Suthar received the Player of the Match award.

In the match, the Indian cricket team, batting first, declared the innings after scoring 564 runs for 8 wickets with the help of century innings of KL Rahul (100) and Shubman Gill (126). Mohammad Salim Saifi was successful in hunting 6 batsmen in India’s innings.
In the reply innings, Afghanistan’s batsmen got trapped in the spin of Manav Suthar and the entire team collapsed for 152 runs.
Debutant Suthar showed the way to the pavilion by dismissing 6 batsmen. He became the tenth bowler for India to take 5 wickets in the debut test. After this, the Afghan team could not do anything special even while playing follow-on and was limited to 112 runs in 35.5 overs. In this way India won the match by 1 innings and 300 runs. Washington Sundar took maximum 4 wickets in Afghanistan’s second innings.This is the third time that the Afghanistan team has faced defeat by an innings in the Test format. Before this, it had also suffered defeat by innings at the hands of India in 2018 and Zimbabwe in 2025.
