Delhi: In Qualifier-1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 8 wickets. After KKR's victory, star wicketkeeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz told how he got a chance in the team, why he took part in IPL when his mother was ill.
It is known that in this year's IPL season, Phil Salt and Sunil Narine started the innings of Kolkata Knight Riders, where both of them gave a great start to KKR in many matches. However, after Salt returned home, KKR gave a chance to Gurbaz. Gurubaz, who came to IPL from Afghanistan, made an opening partnership of 44 runs with Sunil Narine. The right-handed batsman scored 23 runs in 14 balls.

Rahmanullah said after the match, “My mother is currently in the hospital. I call him every day. Even when my mother was in the hospital, I came to India from Afghanistan to play IPL in India. I was told that Kolkata would need me after Phil Salt withdrew from the IPL, so I decided to be available. I am happy with my decision and my mother is also happy.”
It is worth noting that Kolkata Knight Riders won the match in the 14th over itself on the basis of the batting of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Sunil Narine, Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer. The half-centuries of Venkatesh and Shreyas made KKR's victory easy. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders reached the final by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad. The final match will now be held on 26 May.
Why did Shahrukh Khan fold his hands after the match?
After Kolkata's victory, like every match, this time too the franchise owner Shahrukh Khan reached the field. He greeted everyone. Members of the commentary team were also present on the field, where without seeing Aakash Chopra, he went a little ahead, then turned back and talked to him and hugged him. Khan also hugged Suresh Raina and Parthiv Patel standing there and while leaving, he bowed to Akash and apologized with folded hands.
