According to the latest update of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), on June 9, 2026, the sky will be partly cloudy in Mumbai and surrounding areas and there is a possibility of heavy thunderstorms along with rain at many places. According to IMD, the weather will be almost similar today in different parts of Mumbai like Borivali, Chembur, Colaba, Mulund, Powai, Santa Cruz and Worli. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 32°C to 34°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 27°C to 29°C. The day may start with light clouds, but the weather can change rapidly by afternoon and evening. There is a possibility of moderate rain, one or two heavy showers and thunderstorm with lightning in many areas.
Most importantly, IMD has issued an alert of thunderstorm with lightning and strong winds (30–40 kmph) in some areas. This means that people need to be cautious due to lightning and strong winds. The weather may remain more active, especially in coastal areas like Colaba and Worli, while the intensity of rain may increase in the evening in suburbs like Borivali and Mulund.
The weather will be slightly stable in the morning, but as the day progresses, a dense layer of clouds may form. Rain activities will start increasing after noon. There will be only light showers at some places, while spells of heavy rain may also be seen in some areas.
Do not stay in the open during heavy rain and storm. Stay away from trees or open ground during lightning. Be careful while driving as roads can be slippery. Avoid going to sea areas. Mumbaikars should be prepared for fluctuations in weather throughout the day today as sometimes they may have to face light showers and sometimes heavy rains and thunderstorms.
