The high-stakes environment of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is known for intense pressure, nail-biting finishes, and fierce rivalries. However, amidst the extreme tension of the tournament, the cricket field also witnesses moments of pure, unadulterated comedy. Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Axar Patel recently gave fans a glimpse into one such side-splitting moment. Speaking on the Humans of Bombay YouTube channel, the Indian all-rounder recounted a hilarious miscommunication during a standard medical check that left both the team physiotherapist and the player in stitches.

The incident revolved around DC’s explosive young finisher, Ashutosh Sharma, who has quickly earned a reputation for both his power-hitting and his eccentric, light-hearted personality.
During a tense match, Ashutosh took a sharp blow to his helmet while batting. In accordance with standard cricket safety protocols, DC’s physiotherapist, Craig Anthony de Weymarn, rushed onto the field to conduct a mandatory concussion test.

Concussion protocols are usually solemn affairs where physios ask baseline questions, like identifying the ground, the day of the week, or the score, to ensure the player’s cognitive functions are intact.
But before Craig could even utter his first diagnostic question, Ashutosh blurted out an entirely unexpected response that completely derailed the medical evaluation.

“It was a tense moment for Ashutosh Sharma. I was out of the ground. He was hit on the helmet. Craig, our physio, went to check on him. The bizarre, unsolicited declaration caught the veteran physio entirely off guard.
Instead of a standard medical assessment, the interaction devolved into a fit of giggles.
