This match fixing case was being investigated under the provisions of Sri Lanka's Sports Act. Now during the investigation of this case, the police have arrested them under suspicion and now two Indians have also been accused of this. Indian citizens Yoni Patel and P Akash have also been asked by a Sri Lankan court to submit their passports. Both of them have also been accused of fixing during a match played at Pallekeli Stadium in Kandy. Currently, both of them are out on bail.

Actually, Sri Lanka had made many strict laws in the year 2019 against those involved in fixing in cricket. Under this law, if anyone is caught on fixing charges, he can be jailed for at least 10 years. Lanka became the first South Asian country to enact such a law and if all the charges against Rahman are proved, he may have to go to jail for 10 years. However, this matter is still being investigated and it will also be confirmed in the coming time.

The Lanka Premier League is to be played after the 2024 T20 World Cup. It will start from July 1 and the auction for this was organized last Tuesday. During this auction, fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana became the most expensive player in the history of the league. Colombo Strikers added him to their team for US$120,000. Earlier also he was a part of the same team.
