Hitman broke the world record of Australia’s explosive batsman David Warner by completing 16 thousand runs as an opener in international cricket. With this he also joined the special club of Virender Sehwag.

Rohit Sharma has now become the fastest opener to score 16 thousand runs in men’s international cricket. He achieved this feat in just 384 innings, whereas David Warner took 390 innings for this. Legends like Graeme Smith, Virender Sehwag and Chris Gayle are also included in this special list.

Rohit Sharma has become only the seventh batsman in the history of international cricket to score 16 thousand runs while opening. Among Indian players, only Virender Sehwag had achieved this feat before him. Rohit is now just 110 runs away from surpassing Sehwag to become India’s most successful international opener.

Interestingly, Rohit Sharma has also become the first batsman to complete 16 thousand runs as an opener while playing for India. Virender Sehwag scored a total of 15758 runs for India, while the rest of the runs were scored while playing for Asian XI and ICC XI.

Rohit is on top in terms of average also

Rohit’s record is not limited to just scoring runs. Rohit’s strike rate of 93.03 is the best in the list of openers who have scored more than 16 thousand runs.

Even in terms of average, he is ahead of other players. His average is 45.22, which is the highest in this special list. Rohit Sharma has so far scored 20125 runs in international cricket. Of these, he has scored more than 16,000 runs as an opener, while the remaining runs have come while batting in the middle order.
