Shubman Gill’s Historic 154 Powers India to 402, Afghanistan Set 403-Run Target

A brilliant knock from Shubman Gill has set up India to post 402 against Afghanistan in the 2nd ODI match played on June 17 at Lucknow.

The hosts lost all 10 wickets despite posting a massive 400 run total against Afghans.

After being invited to bat first, India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma opened the innings while AM Ghazanfar opened the bowling attack.

Saleem Safi bagged the wicket of Jaiswal for four runs. Safi bagged his maiden ODI wicket after the side after a catch by Nangeliya Kharoti at backwark point.

Shubman Gill who came to bat at No.3, joined Rohit Sharma as India scored 80 runs in the powerplay.

Rohit Sharma made a solid knock scoring 48 runs off 39 deliveries before being dismissed by Rashid Khan.

Ishan Kishan who came to bat at No.4, joined Shubman Gill as they duo forged a 226-run partnership for the third wicket.

Shubman Gill smashed his fifty in the 17th over while Ishan Kishan followed him with a fifty as his fifty came in the 27th over.

The duo went on to smash centuries as Afghanistan bowlers have no answers for the duo. Shubman Gill brought up his 9th ODI century as the side cross 200 run mark.

Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan brought up his second ODI hundred helping the side to cross 300 run mark.

Ishan Kishan who scored 125 runs off 79 deliveries before his dismissal by Nangeyalia Kharoti. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill went on to smash his 150 before his dismissal for 154 runs by Nangeyalia Kharoti.

His 154 runs came off from 110 deliveries which included 22 fours and 2 sixes. Nangeyalia Kharoti bagged his third wicket dismissing KL Rahul for duck.

Nangeyalia Kharoti bagged his fourth wicket dismissing Shreyas Iyer for 26 runs as India lost 4 wickets to score 51 runs.

Washington Sundar added up 19 runs before his dismissal by Rashid Khan. The Afghanistan spinner got his third wicket dismissing Gurnoor Brar for 3 runs.

With Arshdeep Singh and Prince Yadav’s dismissal for 3 and 5 runs respectively, India lost all 10 wickets for 402 runs.

Nangeyalia Kharoti bagged four wickets while Rashid Khan bagged three wickets in their respective spells.
