IND vs AFG: Team India defeated Afghanistan by 170 runs in the second ODI, sealed the series.

Delhi: In the second ODI played at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, the Indian team defeated Afghanistan by a huge margin of 170 runs and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. This is Afghanistan’s second biggest defeat in terms of runs in ODI cricket. While playing first, Team India had scored 402 runs with the help of century innings by Shubhman Gill and Ishan Kishan. In the reply innings, the Afghan team collapsed for 232 runs in 44.3 overs. Shubman Gill was chosen player of the match for his match-winning innings.

Gill and Ishaan scored centuries

Team India had made three changes in its playing-11 in the match. Yashasvi Jaiswal flopped for the second consecutive match and could score only 4 runs. Rohit Sharma looked in good form. He hit 6 fours and 2 sixes in his innings of 48 runs. After both of them were out, Gill and Ishaan scored a lot of runs.

There was a record partnership of 224 runs for the third wicket between the two batsmen. Gill scored his first century as captain. He played a historic inning of 154 runs in 110 balls. His innings included 22 fours and 2 skyscraper sixes. Apart from him, Ishaan scored a century in 71 balls and was out after scoring 125 runs. 26 runs came off the bat of Shreyas Iyer. During this innings, he completed 3000 runs for India in ODIs and equaled Shikhar Dhawan. KL Rahul’s account not opened.

From Afghanistan’s side, Nangeliya Kharote managed to kill four batsmen. Apart from him, experienced all-rounder Rashid Khan took 3 wickets in his name.

Afghanistan’s batsmen disappointed

The Afghanistan team had a good start while chasing the target. Gurbaz and Zadran added 52 runs for the first wicket. Gurnoor Brar did the work of breaking this pair. Gurbaz, the centurion of the previous match, played an inning of 41 runs in this match. Zadran was successful in contributing 21 runs.

Rahmat Shah played a fighting innings

Rahmat Shah scored the most runs for Afghanistan. He faced 89 balls and managed to play a brilliant inning of 79 runs with the help of 8 fours. Sediqullah Atal scored an inning of 42 runs. Rashid Khan could score only 12 runs. In this way, Team India ended Afghanistan’s entire innings in the 45th over itself.

Arshdeep-Gurnoor got 3-3 wickets

Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets each. Whereas, debutant Prince Yadav made 2 batsmen his victims, while Sundar got one wicket.
