Maxwell has performed disappointingly for RCB this season and has failed to make an impact. The 35-year-old player has not been able to score a single half-century this season and his best score has been 28 runs. In such a situation, looking at their poor season, Irfan believes that the RCB team management should reprimand Maxwell and he is responsible for such a season in Bengaluru. During a conversation on Star Sports after the end of the match, Pathan gave a sharp reaction about the star all-rounder.
He said, “RCB scored 20 runs less in this match. Now Glenn Maxwell should be reprimanded in the dressing room because the way he played his shots at that time was not acceptable at all. He should go to the dressing room today and scold him because if this does not happen then it will not be good for the IPL. The way he played the shot, there was no need at all. I can say with certainty that if there had been any other player in his place, his career would have ended by now.”
If we look at the performance of the right-handed batsman this season, he has played 10 matches, in which he has scored only 52 runs with a poor average of 5.78 and a strike rate of 120.93. During this, his best score has been 28 runs. While in bowling, 35-year-old Maxwell has taken 6 wickets.
Rajasthan defeated Bengaluru by 4 wickets in the eliminator match.
In the eliminator match, Rajasthan won the toss and decided to bowl first. After this, RCB, who came to bat first, could score only 172 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Chasing the target of 173 runs, RR team achieved it in 19 overs at the loss of 6 wickets and confirmed its place in the second qualifier. With the defeat in this match, Bengaluru is now out of the tournament. Now Rajasthan will play its next match on 24th May against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Chennai.
