Delhi: Delhi Capitals (DC) is going to make a big change in its coaching structure from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027. According to the information, two veteran Indian batsmen can be given important responsibilities in the team. There is a possibility of former captain Sourav Ganguly being made the head coach and Yuvraj Singh as the batting coach. However, no official announcement has been made on this yet by the franchise.

The path will be different from the old coaching team

After this possible change, questions have been raised on the future of the current coaching staff. The roles of VVS Laxman (team director), Hemang Badani (head coach), Munaf Patel (bowling coach) and Ian Bell (assistant coach), who have been associated with the team for the last two seasons, are likely to not continue. The team’s performance in IPL 2026 was also average and it stood at sixth position.

Why will there be change?

According to sources, this change is part of an arrangement made between the franchise co-owners GMR Sports India Private Limited and JSW Sports. Under this agreement, the responsibility of running the team remains with both the groups by rotation every two years, due to which major changes are also seen in the coaching setup.

New role of Ganguly and Yuvraj

Sourav Ganguly has been associated with Delhi Capitals before and has played the role of team mentor in IPL 2019. Later he was also the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In recent years, she has also been associated with Pretoria Capitals and the Women’s Premier League (WPL). At the same time, Yuvraj Singh has been playing an important role in the training of many young players since his retirement.

Rishabh Pant’s return and discussions to the team

Interestingly, the talk of Rishabh Pant’s return from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is also intense. It is being told that the role of Ganguly and Yuvraj has also been important in the trade deal between Pant and Delhi Capitals. Pant has captained Delhi before.

In IPL history, Delhi Capitals has not been successful in winning the title till now. However, in 2020 the team reached the finals, which is considered to be its best performance so far. Now with a new coaching structure possible from 2027, the team is looking towards a fresh start, aiming to win the IPL trophy for the first time.
