The ODI series between India and Afghanistan has ended. Let us tell you that India made a clean sweep in 3 ODI series. However, after the end of that series, ICC has strongly reprimanded Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi. The Afghan captain has been reprimanded by the ICC for his mistake in the third and last ODI of the series played in Chennai on June 20. The big thing is that Hashmatullah Shahidi made that mistake after receiving the official warning.
ICC not only reprimanded Hashmatullah Shahidi but also added one demerit point to his account. The ICC found Shahidi guilty of a Level 1 offense under the Cricket Code of Conduct and said the offense he committed was a breach of Article 2.10.10. According to the ICC, despite being given an official warning in the third ODI against India, Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi was repeatedly seen running on the pitch, which could have caused damage to the pitch. This is Shahidi’s first rule breaking in the last 24 months.
Hashmatullah Shahidi got 2 warnings
Hashmatullah Shahidi was given an official warning for not running on the pitch twice during batting, following which the ICC reprimanded him and added one demerit point. He was first warned in the 31st over of Afghanistan’s innings and again in the 40th over, when he repeated the same mistake. The result of this mistake of the captain was that the Afghanistan team had to face a penalty of 5 runs in the match.
