Nandre Burger Ruled Out of Remainder of the MLC 2026 Season

The fast bowler Nandre Burger has been ruled out of the MLC 2026 after a recurrence of a stress reaction in his back.

Being part of TSK in the ongoing season, Burger is recommended to take a ‘prolonged period of rest and rehabilitation’ after scans revealed a pre-existing stress reaction.

The 30-year old turned played twice for the Super Kings, bowling his full quota in the tournament opener against Seattle Orcas and two overs as first-change against San Francisco Unicorns a couple of days later, picking up the wicket of Finn Allen.

The left arm seamer has had a long list of injury in his career. Starting in October 2024, he was ruled out of the Ireland series (his ODI debut) and Bangladesh tests due to Lumbar stress reaction.

He also missed the SA20 due to the same injury. Even before his South Africa debut, Nandre Burger had to suffered a hamstring injury that affected his participation in the second ODI agianst India and also ruled him out of third ODI.

However, he played 13 matches for Rajasthan Royals in IPL, picking 14 wickets at 31.42, joint-second on the wickets column for the team this season.

Texas Super Kings have announced Dian Forrester as the replacement for the injured pacer. Super Kings have secured only one win out of three games so far in the ongoing season and secured fourth position in the MLC 2026 points table.

Despite a win in the opener match, they suffered back to back defeats in the games against San Francisco United and MI New York.

Texas Super Kings will play their next game against San Francisco Unicorns on June 25 at Oakland Coliseum, California.
