West Indies captain Hayley Matthews admitted her side is "still not quite firing with the bat" after a 35-run defeat to England in the T20 World Cup on Wednesday.
The loss denied West Indies an early semi-final spot, but qualification remains in their hands ahead of Saturday's clash with Ireland. "It's all in our hands, and that puts us in a wonderful position," Matthews said. "If you'd told us before the tournament that we just needed to beat Ireland to reach the semis, we'd have grabbed that opportunity."
She acknowledged the batting struggles: "I still haven't got runs, Deandra hasn't got hers, but Chinelle looked good today. I feel we're in a very strong place. Against Ireland, if we're near our best, we should come out on top."
Matthews also pointed to fielding lapses, admitting her dropped catch of Heather Knight made a big difference. "We wanted to keep our net run rate stable, as that will be crucial against Ireland."
On her controversial dismissal, given out caught behind after a review, Matthews said she respects the decision but felt she didn't edge it. "I heard a noise, but I felt I was far from the ball. The third umpire saw a spike, and I have to respect that."
